About Our Classes

Our introductory classes are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, ideas, and practice. The classes combine guided meditation with practical spiritual advice that you can immediately put into practice as a method for eliminating daily stress and other problems you may be experiencing.

The classes are open to everyone, you don't need to book, you can just turn up as and when you wish.

Meditation is a method for making our mind calm and peaceful. When our mind is peaceful we are free from worries and mental discomfort, and are able to experience happiness that arises from our own inner peace.

If we train our mind to become peaceful we shall be happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances. If our mind is not peaceful, even if we have the most pleasant external conditions we will find it difficult to be really happy.

What to expect in a class

Our evening classes (General Programme) include two guided meditations a talk by the teacher on the subject for that week, questions and answers, and finally tea and biscuits.

The meditations are suitable for both complete beginners and those who have more experience.

The talk given by the teacher is designed to help us get to know our own mind and how it works, as well as offer practical advice that we can use in our daily life.

Subjects taught in our classes are all based on the books and teachings of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, and the practical experience of the teacher.

Why not come along and see for yourself what meditation can do for you?

Our daytime class consists of a guided meditation and some advice from the teacher.

Foundation Programme Classes at Kailash Buddhist Centre

They consist of two classes with a forty minute break in the middle and run on Saturday mornings between 9.30 - 2.00pm. The Foundation Programme starts again on 9th February 2008
