Daily Prayers

Wishfulfilling Jewel

Dorje Shugdan

Wishfulfilling Jewel prayers are at 6pm each day except for Saturdays when we recite Wishfulfilling Jewel prayers at 3.00pm.

Wishfulfilling Jewel is similar to Heart Jewel but has a special offering ceremony in the middle called a Tsog offering.

These prayers are recited in English and last for about 1 hour. They contain two practices revealed by the wisdom Buddha Manjushri.

The first practice within the prayers enables us to receive powerful blessings from our Spiritual Guide, so that we may develop both Great Wisdom and Compassion. Through the power of this practice we shall also accumulate great merit, and purify negative karma.

The second practice is a method for relying upon the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden, enabling us to overcome obstacles, and create favourable conditions for our spiritual practice.

Heart Jewel also contains a very simple 'Powa' (Transference of consciousness) practice. Geshe-la has said that if we remember this simple visualisation when we are dying then we shall take rebirth in Tushita Pure Land (that's where the Buddhas live!)

Heart Jewel is the very essence practice of our Buddhist Tradition. If we practise these prayers regularly and sincerely we shall reap a rich harvest of spiritual realisations, and eventually come to experience the supreme joy of full enlightenment.
