Kailash Buddhist Centre
In 1994 a local resident requested classes be taught in Birkenhead. A qualified teacher fror Tara Buddhist Meditation Centre in Derbyshire came to teach and a regular weekly class started at Williamson Art Gallery.
In 1996 this class moved to Bebington Civic Centre and a class is still held there to this day. In 1998 classes also started in Heswall, Wallasey and in 2001 in Oxton. Due to the commitment and kindness of those students, we now have a beautiful Buddhist centre in the heart of Birkenhead. Kailash Centre provides meditation rooms, accommodation for spiritual practitioners, as well as being a place of refuge and haven of tranquillity for the people of the Wirral. Today the centre runs many different classes around the Wirral Peninsula and we have recently moved into larger premises, as our community steadily grows.
It is hoped in the future Kailash Centre will allow many people to experience the profound benefits of meditation and Buddha's advice.
