About Kailash Buddhist Centre
In 1994 a local resident requested that Buddhist Meditation classes
be taught in Birkenhead. A qualified teacher from Tara centre in Derbyshire came to teach and a regular weekly class
started at Williamson Art Gallery.
In 1996 this class moved to Bebington Civic Centre and is still held there to this day.
In 1998 classes also started in Heswall, Wallasey and in 2001 in Oxton. Due to the
commitment and kindness of those students, we now have a beautiful Buddhist centre in the
heart of Birkenhead. Kailash Centre provides meditation rooms, accommodation for spiritual
practitioners, as well as being a place of refuge and haven of tranquillity for the people
of the Wirral. Today the Centre runs many different classes around the Wirral peninsula.
Since 2004 we have been running Foundation Programme each Saturday morning.
These Classes take a
more systematic and in depth look at Buddha's teachings, covering the entire Buddhist Path.
It is hoped that in the future Kailash Centre will allow many more people to experience the profound benefits of
meditation and Buddha's advice. How wonderful!
"Buddhist practice is very gentle. It does not require physical deprivation and
hardship but is mainly concerned with the internal task of controlling and transforming the mind." -
